Finally after over a year, 1 cancelled show, and a snowstorm from Hell, My Birthday gift was completed. Mom and I attended Celines Concert. And boy did she deliver, what a fantastic show. We had good seats about row 12, 1 section back, but not nearly as Good as my friend Laura, who had row 7, and Celine walked past less than a foot from her, Not Once, BUT TWICE! And lets not forget I helped LAura get her seats!!!! But I cant complain, Mom got me my ticket for my birthday, so I have to be Happy,, What a fantastic show, Celine has the most powerful and beautiful Voice Ever. I love Her!!!!! We had a great time, dispite the terrible blizzard, andthe 3 hour driving time,,,,,,,, Thanks Celine.

Europe -7 countries

Mom has chosen, and we have picked our furlos at the OEMC. Its May! Mothers Day, how perfect. England, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden, and France. Our own Amazing Race. Mom is so excited, I havent seen her like this in a longtime. Of course I am too,, I can't wait to show her Notre Dame. We got an incredible deal. With the economy so bad everywhere, we are walking away with over a thousand dollars, in discounts. Now all thats left is the packing.
I will definitely be taking lots of pictures, and I think I'm going to treat myself to a digital movie camera also,, I think it would be very nice to have video of Mom there,,here is a link to the Tour company we are going thru. She picked this tour, because she can't walk long distances and was afraid the other ones, she would be in pain,, ,,, M

ps,, I think we will be in Paris on Mothers Day, isn't that incredible, to go tomass at Notre Dame on Mothers Day, with my Mother would make everything perfect.

Australia

Went to see this with Mom. We both enjoyed it, very much. Baz Lurhman knows how to film a movie, and make his actors look beautiful. Not that Nicole or Hugh need help with that. Definitely worth seeing...

Quantum of Solace

My friend Sue and I, went to see this , this past weekend. I was a little disappointed, I felt the film makers emphasized the sub plot over the main plot, of revenge of Bonds Girlfriend Vespar from the last movie... Daniel Craig is fantastic. So the movie wasn't a total waste. The first one was better I thought,, can't wait for the next one though.

Light on a Knife ******

Flick Flick, Flick flick
My eyes slowly open,
to reflected light from across the room,
sunlight from my kitchen windows stream in
Flick Flick
A warm wind blows in,
moving the blinds back and forth
Flick Flick, flick flick
The soft breeze feels good across my skin.
sending chills, goosebumps running
Flick Flick
Light is reflecting across a silver knife,
causing flashes of light to hit my eyes.
Flick Flick, flick flick
I stare at the knife,
never moving from my bed,
just watching the knife. move
Flick Flick,
mind and body relaxed,
never moving,
just staring at the knife.
Flick flick, flick flick
thinking about the knife,
shiny and clean.
I can't stop thinking about this knife.
Flick flick
What will it feel like,
to have my blood pouring out,
will it hurt? !
My mind races with thoughts of this knife!
Flick flick, flick flick
The sun seems to be playing Morse code across my eyes
Tap tap, dot dot dash dash or
Flick Flick, Flick Flick
Should I use the Knife?
Will It hurt?
What does it all mean?
Where did it all go wrong?
Flick Flick, Flick Flick
Phone Rings
breaking my contact with the knife
Flick Flick
it's Mom
I guess I'll think about the Knife some other time
Flick flick.

This was an actual event in my life, a few years ago. I'm sharing this for several reason. I had to get this out of my head. I can still recall this morning very well. BUT more importantly, in case ANYONE is feeling like succumbing to the abyss, stepping over the edge. DON'T, it will get better. Suicide or rather the thought of it, has followed me, for a long time. I thought about it, talked about it, and yes planned it, a couple of times. I'm glad I never went through with it, Reader TRUST me. It will get better, Little Steps. Small decisions. That's all it takes . One after the other. And most inportant, there are people who will help you,, care about you. Reach Out!

My Life is so wonderful now. I have finally put the past away. I think, I don't forget, but I can move on now. Since this day, I have journeyed all over the World! New Zealand, and France. Met some wonderful people, who have become dear friends,, reconnected with old friends, and of course, fell in love,,, with ME!!! Hopefully this was written well( I tried), enough to get my point across. Here's to making more of my dreams come true. Namarie for now

Message to Tom

Most songs remind us of a time or place. Instantly transports us back to when we first heard it. Sometimes songs remind me of a person. I probably could name a song for just about every body in my life. This song reminds me of you. Its by my favorite singer. Celine Dion And it came out around the time you were a little boy. I've printed some of the lyrics, and added my comments so you would know a little about what was going on with me at that time.

When you call on me
When I hear you breathe
I get wings to fly
You started life, blue and not breathing,, the umbilical cord was around your neck, and you and Timmy were so small, practically as big as my hand. I could carry you and Timmy in the palms of each hands.
I feel that I'm alive
When you look at me
I can touch the sky
I know that I'm alive
When you bless the day
I just drift away All my worries die
I'm glad that I'm alive
I was going through some very tough times at the time of your birth, I didn't know who I was or what I was all about, and didn't think I had the strength for life. Sometimes I was weak and darkness and shadow crept into my mind. You boys were born and my life changed, God took me out of myself and placed you firmly in my hands and heart. You would crawl into my room looking for me, everyday calling my name,,Telling me that you needed me and wanted me.. That you love me,,, and that's all it took,,,, Thank you ,, Uncle Max ,,,,,

The Last Lecture

I read the book by Prof Randy Pausch. I didnt watch the actual lecture. I'm glad he was able to have the chance to have his voice heard. I applaud his courage in his life and in the face of his illness and death. But,,,,, I had the intention of writing, why I didn't understand, why most people needed to hear this... Then,,,, I got it!!! Most people are so caught up in their own lives, trying to live up to what everyone thinks is the dream, that they lose themselves and lose their personal dreams. And sometimes everyone needs a kick in the Ass! Even Me. I like to think that I live my dreams, most of them. Some are still out there ( The Hobbit Role) , but I realized a long time ago, I was always going to be an outcast, and that if I didnt work to make myself happy, then what was the point of life! Anyway I've included here some Prof Pausch 's adages that I liked in the book.

1) Be the First Penguin
Meaning someone has to be the first, might as well be you.
2)Tell the truth ALL the Time.
What else do you have, But your honesty and integrity!
3)Never make a decision, until you have to.
4)If you are in the Driver's Seat. don't run over people.
5)Experience is what happens, when you fail.
My Favorite, becuase I never thought about it , like that.
6)An injured Lions still wants to Roar.
7)If you are screwing up, and no one says anything to you.
Then they have given up on you!
8)Dutch Uncle-Person who gives you honest feedback.
9)I you didnt worry about what others think of you-
you would be 33% more effective.
10)Luck is what happens when Preparation meets Oppurtunity!
11)Whether you can or can't-You're right!

My Dad's Favorite Adage
You're mind is like a parachute. It's no good unless it's open!

My Favorite one is: Above all Else. To Thine own Self be True

What are some of your Favorites? And do you try and live by them?

A word from Tim (15 yrs old)

Hey,
It's been a very long time since the last time I wrote for the Blog. So, everythings been good. I just saw thenew Star Wars movie with Tom and Uncle Max, it was very good. I'm excited to watch it this summer on tv. Summer has been really fun. I have a new beautiful Girlfriend, her name is Trea. We have been together for 8 months. It has been great. She's amazing and so much fun to be around. She like my obsession with Lord of The Rings. Uncle Max's friend Sue would like her because she is a huge Harry Potter fan., which is a very good thing. I've also been reading more. I just read The Children of Hurin, which is about Turin son of Hurin. It is a very good book. I'm now reading the Silmarillion, I've only read about 3 pages so far, but i'm excited to actually start reading it. I have also been drawing a lot more. Hopefully Uncle Max can post them on the blog so everyone can see. I still play sports, baseball season has ended about a month ago. We did good. We came in in 2nd for the season, but lost in the championship game for the town tournament. I pitchedand did well. The score was 8-7. I'm going to be a sophomore this year. But thats about it. I just wanted to tell you how I am because its has been a very long time and I apologize. I will write more, so be excited. Later , Tim.

Superman

I just watched this movie again tonight, and thought I would share my thoughts. While ultimately I was disappointed in the film i.e the storyline. I hated Lois Lane, and especially the brat. Superman has NO CHILDREN!!!! I understand what Bryan Singer was trying to do. Still Hated it. Superman never looked better. I thought Brandon Routh as Superman was everything he should be. Handsome, masculine with a touch of humility. The film looked like a painting. Every time we saw Superman on screen it was fantastic. I saw this at IMAX in 3d and was blown away. They had like 20 minutes of action sequences in 3d. It was mind blowing. I hope whomever decides to do another movie, gets the storyline right, because Superman is a modern American folk tale. I for one will be buying a ticket when they do. Long Live Superman!

Photo Shoot Test Run

Tom and I went to Indiana, this weekend, first and foremost to visit Grandma and Papa, but also to take some test shots of us in our Lord of the Ring costumes. I wanted to get an idea of how we look in them. Of course, trying to get everything together, I ended up forgetting the most important items! My costumes! I'm wearing Timmy's costume. Which initially I wanted to, but then I thought of changing off. Getting a chance to try on all the costumes. But I grabbed the wrong ones. I have a beautiful Gandalf costume, that I had hand made just for me. It sat under my bed. And I also have a medieval Prince Costume, no one has seen and I've never worn. I really wanted to try that one out. Oh well next time, this was only a test run. My thought is to put together a photo portfolio that I can send out to The Producers of The Hobbit, so they can at least get an idea, of how I will look in costume! It did not go as well as I hoped. Its so hard to direct from in front of the camera. I had Mom trying to snap the pics. She did fine, but I hate my hair, she didn't pay attention to the important details! Different set of pictures are over on Flickr.

Creation Tv

I went to a science fiction convention in Burbank California( by myself I might add), I'm a huge Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and of course Star Wars Fan! While getting my photo taken with Na Na Visitor of Deep Space Nine, she played Major Kira Nerys, one of my favorites, I ended up on this TV Show. It for the convention, but I think they use it for advertisements also. This will mark my 3rd or 4th time on Tv. All Without my consent. My friend josh the lawyer, claims I should sue. Anyway enjoy it, make fun of me the Geek. I don't care. I had a great time. I was there in April of 2007. So i still had a wee bit of the long hair, and pay no attention to the gut! By the way, this was also the trip I met Bill Paxton, one of the hippies from the Amazing race, not to mention all the stars from Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. the Pics can be seen on Flickr.

Gandalf vs Witch King

This is how it should have been,,,,,,

Sorry people, until playing this for the Twins, I didn't realize it's not in English. I always had the sound turned down. But you get the basic idea. NEVER in print or otherwise, was Gandalf afraid of the Witch King, regardless of The Prophecy. Gandalf outranked him. And was more powerful. He might not have been able to slay Angmar, but he could have seriously hurt him!

Frodo dont wear the Ring

From the Flight of The Conchords. Hysterical. Interestingly enough one of these guys was actually in The fellowship of the Ring and The Return of The King. He played an Elf, whom fans dubbed Figwit.

Riders of Rohan-The Rohirram

You can hear our Guide Per (pronounce pair) , really well in this clip.

Born of Hope

Another Lord of The Rings Fan Film. This one is The story of The Dunedain. Especially the story of Gilraen and Arathorn, the parents of Aragorn. I think its so wonderful that so many people have such love and passion about LOTR, that they are willing to give their time and money, to participate in these kinds of films. The Title of this one is Born of Hope.

Man From Atlantis

This was my favorite Tv Show, I think I was about 10, when it began, late 70's. But I never missed it. My mom would call me, when it was on, remember the times before vcr's, and I would come running to watch it. I didnt care what or who I was with. Everyone made fun of me. I would swim underwater just like this too. I wish they would remake it!
AAAhhhh memories.

Our Last Summer

Dear Sue

The summer air was soft and warm
The feeling right, the Paris night.
Did it's best to please us
And strolling down the Elysee
We had a drink in each cafe
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine,
laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
We made our way along the river
And we sat down in the grass
By the Eiffel tower
I can still recall our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam,
round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand Paris restaurants
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day, worries far away
Last summer

When I first heard this song in Mamma Mia , I couldn't help but think of our trip to France Last Summer. And as we come up to that One year anniversary, my mind is flooded with those memories.
Brian

Silvie
Bien que nous avons eu des problèmes, j'ai eu toujours un temps merveilleux et vous aime beaucoup. Je souhaite que nous pourrions le faire encore somtime, si non, j'ai toujours nos mémoires,,,,,

A Reason, A Season or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
It is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty,
To provide you with guidance and support,
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a Godsend and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time,
This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met,
Our desire fulfilled, so their work is done.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON
Because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it; it is real, but only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons.
Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person
And put what you have learned to use
In all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Star Wars The Clone Wars

The Twins and I, got to see this a week before everyone else. We enjoyed it. The only complaint I have is that there are thousands of Jedi, lets focus on some of them. Get off Anakin already. I'm getting tired of him. Not Obi Wan, He is my favorite!

The Hunt For Gollum

This is an incredible fan film of the events leading up to The Lord of the Rings, but after the events from The Hobbit. Its by Chris Bouchard , a film-maker from the UK. It should be completed by December 2008. Here is his blog, which discusses all the details, I just wanted to share the new trailer its amazing!

The Rohirrim-Riders of Rohan

We are riding in a beautiful place called Glenorchy, south of Queenstown, South Island New Zealand. This Is Toms first time on a horse and he was really nervous. When we arrived I come to find out, we would by riding English, Then I became nervous! I figured the boys would chicken out when they realized there was nothing to hold on to. But they persevered, mostly because Raewyn told us that all the horses were in Two Towers/Return of the King. Of course Tom get the only horse that was actually in the movie. his horses name was Oscar. What an appropriate name. Timmy rode Ginger and I had Seth. Our guide was Per. He was fantastic, we all enjoyed him. At one point, while I was taking a picture, Tom's horse takes off down a hill, and spooks my horse, which also goes running after,, I have one hand on the reins and 1 hand on the camera. We managed to get control of our horses. Tom was OK, Thank God, he wasn't scared. Per was cracking up he said we looked like 2 American Cowboys. What a compliment! In this clip, Tom and I are waiting for Per to get Timmy. His horse was a little stubborn.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

When I was in Paris with Sue. I could not get some Disney songs out of my head. Little Town (Little town full of little people, waking up to say,,,, bonjour) from Beauty and the Beast, and this one, from Hunchback. Especially climbing the Steps of Notre Dame. I would sing a line and Sue would look at my like I was crazy. Hunchback was before her kids time. They are too young to have seen Hunchback. Nor does she have the same kind of Mother I do,, Mom and I went to the drive in together to see this, no kids in sight! We do enjoy the Musicals. And The music in this show is some of my favorite music from anything from Disney. I secretly felt an affinity with Quasi. Anyway, This song was playing in my head the whole time climbing the stairs and looking at the bell. Its now become a part of my memory of Notre Dame.
p.s 2 cameos appear in this, the carpet from Aladdin and Belle from Beauty and the Beast! Look Closely!

In case You Forgot

Sometimes we go about our busy lives, always thinking ahead, and not remembering now, whats happening now. I catch myself doing that too,, I'm always looking to the next adventure, The next place to visit. A friend at work took me aside before New Zealand and made me promise that everyday, I would stop and just sit, enjoy the moment, remember why and how I got here. Put everything into focus. She knew I worked too hard to let it speed pass. I did that! And I'm thankful I did. ( Thanks Natasha ) 2 years have passed since that trip, And I could remember every detail. So much so that I let an important reason for going start to slip past. My love for this movie. Since coming home I haven't watched it once, bits and pieces, so I can point out where the Twins and I traveled, But never sat down and watched it end to end. Surprisingly, I don't listen to the music anymore either, I had forgotten how much I loved it. Self analysis. Maybe I didn't want to revisit LOTR because of the profound effect this trip had on me. It really did change my life. I became who I always wanted to be. Old demons and Ghosts no longer haunt. I knew the trip would be the boys and mine, last big event. They are growing up, they don't want to hang with me anymore ( Damn Girls! ). I'm not Magical for them anymore. I'm not special or as special. My books and stories don't capture their imagination like it once did. That's life. I came across this clip, and emotions flooded back. I had forgotten my love, my precious. It brought tears to my eyes. I think I'm ready for another adventure. The Road goes ever on. Namarie.

p.s. Anyone up for a movie marathon, guess whats playing!!!!

I'm writing u a blog.

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I wrote, but I'm doing just fine. I'm going to 10th grade next year, but I can not play football this year cause of my leg but its OK. I hope Uncle Max could be an extra in the hobbit. That would be AMAZING!!!!. Uncle Max's block party was fun. I was mostly waiting for my favorite T.V. show Avatar to come on. My brothers and I won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in his trivia contest. I hope in August, I'm done wearing a cast on my leg , but in the long run it could be good for my leg. Well, that is all I have to talk about now. See you all later. Naramie Thomas.

Hobbit Update

The following are excerpts from The Hobbit FAQ from The One Ring.Net. A leading Lord of the Rings Internet site. The usually have the most factual and current news on the Web! These excerpts apply to question asked about the upcoming movie" The Hobbit. I have added my two cents in blue.

1.2. What will be in the second movie?

If The Hobbit does comprise the first film. The second movie will cover some of the events in Middle-earth during the 60 years between the end of The Hobbit, when Bilbo returns to Bag End in the year 2941 of the Third Age, and the Long Expected Party that opens The Fellowship of the Ring, in the year 3001 of the Third Age. According to PJ: “At this stage, we’re not imagining a film that literally covers 60 years, like a bio-pic or documentary. We would figure out what happens during that 60 years, and choose one short section of time to drop in and dramatise for the screen.”
Possible events that could be included:
- Sauron returns to Mordor
- Gollum ventures from the Misty Mountains in search of Bilbo and ends up in Mordor
- Aragorn and Arwen meet
- Aragorn and Gandalf meet
- A young Aragorn leaves Rivendell and travels south to fight for Rohan and Gondor under the alias of Thorongil.
- The Dwarves, led by Balin, re-inhabit Moria.
There has also been mention of taking one character, such as Aragorn or Gandalf, and following their story-line over the 60 year time-frame. Essentially, the film rights include anything from the text or appendices of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. What definitely will not be included in either movie are events or characters from Tolkien’s other works including The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and The History of Middle-earth series.

1.9. How do I get cast as an extra in the movies? This is what I really want to know.

The only way to become an extra in the films is to be *in* New Zealand at the time casting calls go out (and specifically *in* the city in which they need extras on the days announcements are made) and either be a citizen of New Zealand or possess a New Zealand work permit. Calls for extras will occur much the same as they did for LOTR: ads will be published in local papers and broadcast on local radio stations and you will have to be available to work within 24-48 hours. So, unless you’re ready, willing and able to move to New Zealand for two years, happen to be in the right place at the right time and are fully documented to work there, you’re out of luck.
Note: tourist visas to New Zealand are currently valid for 90 days. A number of countries have working holiday visa schemes with New Zealand; they are generally valid for 12 months and allow you to work for up to three months at a time; you also have to be aged between 18 and 30 to be eligible. See Immigration NZ for details. I don't like the sound of this!
If you’re already a professional or semi-professional actor, you should work through your agent and/or contact talent agencies in Wellington. If you’re lucky enough to be a New Zealand citizen or be legally working there, you’re the envy of us all!! Somehow, I will be in this movie, If they can allow Guillermo del Toro to film and work in NZ, for 2 yrs,, they will allow me to be an extra! If need be I will write the NZ Prime Minister!!!!

Important note: If and when TORn hears of casting calls, we’ll post the news immediately on the Home Page of the site. However, no one at TORn can get you cast as an extra in the movie, so emailing us with such requests is, unfortunately, futile. If you’ve read through this entry, you now know as much as we do!

Just another update on my progress. I'm writing everyone and anyone! Rosie O'Donnell, Oprah, and even Roger Ebert. I'm going to start a petition, (maybe I should go online with that,), I'm pretty willing to do whatever it takes. My friend John who lives in California, and works as an EXTRA in movies. He was in Flags of our Fathers and Spider-man to name two. Has been informed of my desire and is on the lookout for any news or any casting calls for me,, I will fly to LA on a moments notice. I have also told my friend Billy, that I will need his services for photo's (face shots), so that I can be prepared at Talent Agencies. I have over a year to prepare.!!!

You must Dream it to Live it

MTV is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is planning on giving fans a chance to be in the Hobbit. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.!!!!! Is this not fate. Hopefully the link works, but if not here is a transcript.

But the biggest news? It came from a question I thought would be a joke.
“Who do I have to kill or sleep with to get a role as an extra?” user Mike Moore asked.
“Oh my god, well that’s a good question only in that it’s asked often,” del Toro said, chuckling. “[But] I believe as the film comes to happen, in either of the two films, [fans] have a good chance of being there.”
You can (and should) watch del Toro’s hilarious response to the question below. But in the meantime, consider this: Del Toro wasn’t kidding. And it won’t cost you a dime, Mr. Moore.
“Sleep with a lot of people if you can! That’s a very good piece of advice. But don’t bribe anyone. It will be wasted money,” del Toro said, laughing. “We will set some rules and some contests and some fans will definitely get the chance of being extras. Go and apply for those roles!”

When this contest starts. I'm calling in all favors. If you know me, care about me, love me, heck hate my guts, and want to see me out of this country, please enter this contest on my behalf!!! I MUST BE IN THIS MOVIE. I'm going to move Heaven and Earth. I'M GOING TO BE IN THAT MOVIE. One way or the other. I wish he would have told us who we had to sleep with. I need names !!!! At least he also gave me another chance, he says to apply for the roles,,, My New Zealand friends are going to get a phone call from me,,,,,, What time is it there ? M

Hobbit Casting pt ll

Tom and I went to see the movie "Wanted" recently and while we both enjoyed it. We couldn't help but pay special attention to James McAvoy. Don't get me wrong, Angelina Jolie is "Devastatingly Beautiful" . Rumours are persistent that McAvoy will be Bilbo Baggins. And that my friends is of the utmost importance. I like him. He has an air of humility, boyishness and down to earth charm. And sometimes he has a smile in his eyes that lets the audience know he is in on the joke. Qualities he shares with a certain Shire dweller. He comes from Billy Boyds home country, Scotland. Also he is short, I don't think any of the Actors portraying the Hobbits were much taller than his reported 5 '7. According to IMDB he is a big Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica fan, coincidence?. I think not. Tom liked him too. I think he would be a fool to pass up this role. But what do I know. Next to nothing. Hopefully he is a nice guy, Peter Jackson only likes to work with people he likes,,, .
P. S. I will certainly post what kind of character he has, when I get to meet him, while filming the hobbit naturally,,,, fingers crossed.

Hobbit Casting

I've read that his favorite book growing up was The Hobbit. I think he would make a great Bard, the bowman who kills Smaug. We all know that The Hobbit is going to be the biggest movies of 2011 and 2012, so it's definitely not a big risk, and I think it will be bigger that 300. He loves to do characters that are costume roles, like Beowulf, King Leonidas . Gerard Butler would be perfect in it . One of my Faves. So I'm going to start the rumour now. Maybe Guillermo del Toro will cast him.

Notre Dame

Inside the Great Cathedral, Paris, September 2007. This had a profound impact on me. They play Ave Maria inside constantly. And they still have mass. I was there for about 5 hrs, It's a really beautiful cathedral. And the whole time I was there my Mother was on my mind and in my heart. It actually made me homesick. I lit several candles for her there,,,,,,, M

Me and Joanie

Me and Joanie
Originally uploaded by Gandalf.

Joanie found me thru my Flickr pictures, recently. We haven't seen each other in years. I sent her a message, describing, how I like to reminisce thru pictures and this was her reply.

I agree with you! You know my wedding album is done up in nothing but 8 x 10's and it's in a leather bound book format. So, I can't scan the picture, but there's one of my father walking me down the aisle. And, the only other person that is clearly pictured is you sitting in one of the back pews on the bride's side. You mentioning reminiscing is what made me think of this memory. I was doing just fine on the day of the wedding. Not really nervous or anything. Then, right before the picture I mentioned was taken, my father decides to ask me if I'm sure that this is who and when I want to marry. He said that if I didn't want to go thru with it we could walk right out of the church and take the limo for a scenic ride around the city!! Brian, you could have knocked me over!! My father was a man of very few words. So, needless to say, I immediately became a nervous wreck. And, let me tell you, you can see it in the picture. Anyway, the first person I saw after he said that to me was you. And, your smile is what helped to calm me before I made it to the altar. So, thanks Bri!! (I think?) LOL!!! It has been 26 years so I guess I did something right!! LOL!!! And again, your too kind with the compliments.

Joanie

Joanie and I must have a special connection. She dated my brother Kevin, when they were in High School. I believe he was just a freshman, and she a sophomore. That would have made me 6th grade, somewhere in there. But I'm the one that fell in love. Joanie was like a wonderful big sister to me and Michelle. She was so kind to us. She would invite us over to Dance ( she had the Saturday Night Fever Album and the Sister Sledge album. On it was a song called He's the Greatest Dancer, which she said I was! )(Compliments get you everywhere with me). I thought she was so beautiful , smart and funny. She had a way of making me feel special. And it felt like, she liked me. For ME. Well life has a way of throwing curves and we each went our separate ways. She started her family. And I went to High School. Our paths went in opposite directions. Years later though, I was in a terrible car accident. Flew out the window, had the truck roll over me, the whole ugly bit. With blood streaming down my face and the fear that I was crippled, I somehow crawled away from the truck.. During all this commotion, I hear my name and look up into the eyes of Joanie, she worked in the area and had witnessed the accident. Of course then I knew, I was going to fine. Joanie was there! We seem to have some kind of connection. that binds us together, and when needed we are there. I believe in Angels. They are here among us, doing Gods work everyday, in every way. With a smile, a kind word, support or a loving gesture. Most of the time we don't know when an Angel is among us. We tend to take people for granted. Too focused on me and what's mine. Joanie is one of my Angels. Thank you for being there, when I needed you.

An Unexpected Party

The Live Internet chat with both Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Tor on Saturday May 24Th, went very well. At least I thought so. The twins were a little disappointed, that none of our questions were answered at least directly. Most of the questions we had were credited to other questioners. That's OK, They literally had thousands online with us, participating in the chat. Tom and I, wrote down the questions we wanted asked before the star of the chat, and all of those questions were answered. I'll add them here with the answers at the end. Timmy had a previous engagement, so he couldn't come over. But we had him on conference call with us, so he would not feel left out. I did not specifically ask, other than a comical question, about actually being in the film. I didn't think it would be fair to other participants and felt it would also be inappropriate to the forum. But at the end of the chat, Guillermo did comment about few asking to be in the film, which to me says that he is aware of my pestering and desire to work on the Hobbit. Here is a brief summary. New Zealand will again be used (perfect) as the setting for Middle -Earth. Both men prefer using actual sets as opposed to CGI. Guillermo commented on using both seamlessly as optimal. Jackson claims that Bilbo has NOT been cast (Internet rumour has Martin Freeman cast). And Sir Ian McKellen also has claimed he has already been approached. According to Guillermo, anyone in the LOTR Trilogy will be asked to reprise their roles in The Hobbit, if the script for F2 (film two) requires it. The scripts have not been written yet, so commenting on Cast news would be premature. Matamat will once again be used for Hobbiton, bigger and better than ever according to Jackson. Guillermo spoke eloquently when referring to bringing Smaug to life. Even going so far as to name Malificent as a favorite Dragon. (everyone knows she was/is my favorite Disney villain) . In ending. Del Toro said and I quote" But I can say that only a FEW asked "How can I be an extra?" so my heart swell with pride with the many questions that you were kind enough to submit-More chats and wandering in the message boards await us-See you soon. " Note. I submitted a question 2 weeks or so ago, asking how I can participate in the making of the movie, ie perhaps an extra or foot messager. Do you think this comment was a slap or derogatory comment towards me? I hope not. My intention was because of my love and passion for the story and all its characters. i read the Hobbit when i was 7 years old. LOTR soon followed soon afterwards. My favorite book of all time. I have read it more than any other. Period. The movies to me are perfection, lightning in the bottle. The look, the feel, the sound, the costumes, the casting even, simply perfection. I took the Twins to NZ, to be on a LOTR tour, that alone should prove my passion for Middle Earth. I just want to be involved somehow. What an incredible chance, perhaps a life altering experience. I will keep trying. I have a til filming starts in 2010, to save my money and make the long journey back to Middle Earth. You have to Dream it, To Live It....Here is a brief audition, lol .Namarie

Hobbit casting News

According to several sources Sir Ian Mckellen has been asked to reprise his role of Gandalf in The Hobbit. Now I'm reading the Andy Serkis and Viggo Mortenson have been approached. Fantastic news. Please please please Viggo say yes. Aragorn can't be played with someone else. Gollum wouldn't be the same also, Andy must come back. ( Rumours say Serkis has already signed). Viggo, I beg you, plead with you, pray you sign on. I have also just read the Bilbo will be played by Martin Freeman, I don't know who that is, but that could be a good thing. He can create the role, and bring a fresh perspective to it. I'm sorry , but I do feel Sir Ian Holm is too old to play a young Bilbo. more news soon to come. Namarie

2 More Days/Variety

Two more days, until the Internet hour, with Guillermo and Peter Jackson. It's Saturday at 3, and I'm nervous and excited. If I get the chance, I'm going to ask Jackson, why he felt the need to have a scene in Return of The King, Where Gandalf and The Witch King have an encounter, and The Witch King basically instill fear and breaks Gandalfs Staff! Never happened in the Book. And while I understand for filming purposes, the need to embellish or add something to move the story along. But was that really necessary? I don't think so. The only small blemish in otherwise a perfect movie. I'm thinking of putting out an Ad in Variety. Does anyone know how expensive that is? An open letter to Guillermo del Toro,,,,Can I be in the Hobbit? Then I can list my reasons. That idea has a certain appeal, can you imagine who will read it. And who will read my name and my story. All of Hollywood reads Variety. Next I will write Guillermo a letter and post it to his blog. I will definitely post it here also,, Namarie for Now.

An Unexpected Party

Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro are inviting fans to a live Internet chat about The Hobbit on May 24 (May 25 in Australia/NZ).
Peter and Guillermo will answer questions and hear comments about the new adventure into Middle-Earth.
Weta are excited to be hosting this one-hour live online chat on their website www.wetaNZ.com. The start time for the different time zones are below:
Los Angeles (Pacific) - Saturday, 24 May 1:00 p.m.
New York (Eastern) - Saturday, 24 May 4:00 p.m.
London - Saturday, 24 May 9:00 p.m.
Paris, Berlin, Rome - Saturday, 24 May 10:00 p.m.
Sydney - Sunday, 25 May 6:00 a.m.
Wellington, Auckland - Sunday, 25 May 8:00 am

Text of PJs letter follows:

Several years ago - it seems a lifetime now - I invited 20 questions from fans right at the start of embarking on The Lord of the Rings trilogy. For me, it was an important and enjoyable moment, when I was able to begin a relationship that helped define our attitude to that unique project. It gave me a sense of responsibility that stayed etched in my brain for the next 5 years.
Well, the time has come again! With us right on the cusp of beginning pre-production on The Hobbit, and its companion movie, it seems fitting to do the same thing again.
It’s also fitting that our director, Guillermo Del Toro, will join me in answering the questions, since he will be bringing his considerable personal vision to these two movies. It’s my moment to hand the baton to Guillermo. It’s time for him to address your concerns.
So this is how it will work: we ask fans with an interest in The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings to send one question to
this website. Ask us anything! Guillermo and I will select and answer the 20 most common questions, so we can both attempt to address the key issues as best we can.
Our answers will be released during a one hour live web chat, hosted by Weta, with both Guillermo and myself logged on. In addition to answering your 20 questions - for the entire hour, we’ll take additional live questions and chat about the projects with anybody who’s interested.
Please send us your questions and
Register for the live chat - and we’ll talk to you in a couple of weeks.
Cheers,Peter Jackson

I don't need to mention that I registered for the live chat. thank God I'm off that day. I also submitted a question. Can anyone guess what my question was? I felt a little guilty asking it. I'm not the type to be pushy or force myself on anyone. But this is really important to me. And I can't help but remember the old adage " Squeaky wheel gets the oil!". So here was my question.
What can I do, to become an Extra? I also added that I could carry coffee, make breakfast, message tired Directors feet. Being very versatile, I can pretty much do anything. I'm very good at sitting/standing around in the hot sun, cold snow or torrential downpours, doing absolutely nothing! End of Question. I think I was the first question submitted. I'm beyond the moon excited . I'm also going to send a letter to Guillermo's website, asking for the job. I will posting my letter here probably tomorrow or next. You have to register and they get back to you with a special code in order to do this. Fingers Crossed. You have to dream it, To live it. Namarie

Mt Ruapehu

Volcanic activity at Mount Ruapehu is increasing and an eruption could occur at any time, scientists warned on Tuesday. The volcano, famed as a location in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, last erupted on September 25 2007, spitting two metre boulders distances of up to two kilometres. Ruapehu’s elevated alert level has not been changed, but scientists said on Tuesday that activity within the mountain was greater, with high levels of gas spewing out, a warmer than average crater lake and ongoing volcanic tremors. “The volcano remains in a status of unrest and the possibility of further activity remains. If further eruptions occur, they may occur without warning,” Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS) said in a statement.

This is a place that we visited, when we were in New Zealand. The sites of Mordor, Emyn Muil and Mt Doom, were all filmed here. The spot where Sam and Frodo were lost amid volcanic lava flows and where they first met Gollum. Gollum's fishing pool, where Andy Serkis was careful not to plunge over the waterfall! This was the spot were we hit a blizzard. See the pics below.

My first thought upon seeing them for the first time, was that they looked like tiny little birds, they even chirped. This event truely, changed the course of my life. I'm so blessed. Balrog

Balrog
Originally uploaded by Gandalf.

I was speculating the other day with the Twins about what exactly the powers at be plan on including in the 2 Hobbit films. Since Gandalf kept leaving Bilbo and the Dwarfs, to confront the Necromancer (Sauron) up in Angmar. I thought maybe del Toro could include a couple of Balrogs. All the dragons are gone except for Smaug, who is now in hiding under the Iron Mountain. And we know of a balrog hiding under Moria. So where did the rest go. Maybe in the battle with the Istari they were all lost. We know there was a great battle. Sauron flees Angmar to Mordor, with the Nine. So we need powerful beings to give our Istari and the remaining Numenoreans a good Battle!

Gandalf is Back

Sir Ian Mckellen will be back as Gandalf in the 2 hobbit films by Guillermo del Toro. He gives an interview to Empire Magazine. This is fantastic news. No one can replace McKellen as Gandalf in my mind. They are going to split the book into 2 films. Plenty of story for both. In my opinion 1 story should follow Bilbo and his quest with the Dwarfs and the other one can follow Gandalf and the Istari's war with The Necromancer. We all know who that is. I think we could and should see cameos of Aragorn, Elrond, Saruman and maybe throw in Gimli and Legolas( of course they should never meet-except maybe during the Battle of Five Armies, that might be interesting!) There is a lot of backstory that could be flushed out. But more importantly if anyone knows how I can become and extra in these films, write me please. I would desperately want to be in it,,,.I even have my own Elven Cloak,,,, Max

The Hobbit

The Hobbit has a director , Guillermo del Toro. Variety is reporting, that he has signed the dotted line. While I'm ecstatic that The Hobbit is finally going to be made, I'm sad that Peter Jackson will not be directing. Nothing against del Toro. I enjoyed Pans Labyrinth, and Hell Boy. But the Look and feel of LOTR under Jackson, was absolutely beautiful. I'm nervous the Hobbit will look and feel completely different. like the cartoons. The Bakshi and the other one. Different directions, and completely different looks. The set up is 2 movies leading up to the Fellowship of the Rings, which I think is cool, some of the same actors can be in it, Mckellan, Mortenson and even Orlando Bloom. I think the Hobbits would be too old, by now. But 2 movies hopefully hitting the big screen in 2011 and 2012. no script written yet, and post production sometime next year. Plenty of time to get my butt down there, and get in as an extra. Fingers Crossed!

Riddles in the Dark

News of the hobbit has been slow, it was announced that The Hobbit was going to be 2 movies, filmed simultaneously ala LOTR. But that is the last piece of news I have heard. Until now, Guillermo del Toro has been mentioned as a Director. No formal news has yet been announced, but he left this riddle on the website The One Ring. net. Which by the way, is my favorite for LOTR news. If you can figure it out be my guest. I hope it means news will be forthcoming.

A riddle for you all

Half familiar, half unknown.

A thing it is, ¨It almost is-¨

This thing all things devours: Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

The day of the moon will be
when all is revealed to thee
Questions will cease
Answers will please
We´ll learn of the Shire
and all you desire.
At ten minus Three.
Joining to be
Ten minus Eight
Add to the slate
of the two dozen princes
that die without winces.
And add to each day
of the week.

Meet Uncle Max

This is A Repost of an Earlier Post from the Old Blog.

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006
There is a man that is tall, smart, with a lot of blonde hair, mostly one of the handsome kinds you see walking down the street. If you ever see him, he may be buying a box of new comic books, just like he does every month. He’s been reading comics since he has been a little boy. If you ever get to meet him, he will be a really nice gentleman, saying thanks, holding the door and all the other stuff, or if you meet him when you go see a movie that he may like, he may be the cool guy in a costume. He really doesn’t care what people think about him, as long as you have fun, he says. He always loves to dress up , He loves the Lord of The Rings as a passion, just like my brother and I. He likes Star Trek, a lot less than The Lord of The Rings. He will watch the movies everyday: I love that about him because he is the one that got me into the Lord of The Rings. He loves playing Tennis and Ping-Pong. Even though I beat him all the time, when he wants to play me. He loves his job as a dispatcher. He got the call about Chris Farley overdosing on drugs. One day my Uncle took me to the movie theatre to see Star Wars, it as about 12:00 am. We saw the movie the day before it really came out. We both dressed up as Jedi’s. With our brown cloaks that felt so comfortable with it’s warmth, and with our colorful fake light sabres that make noise when you hit them against something. We drove to the movie theatre, when we got in, we saw tons of people that cheered for us, because we dressed up. I was so delighted because I had butterflies in my stomach that people will be laughing at us. My Uncle almost started crying. He was so thrilled. We bought our tickets and sat in the theatre. A girl next to us dressed up in the same warm cloak that will always keep someone warm. I remember that night where I almost made an accident in my pants. I know my Uncle will always remember that day for the rest of his life. Mostly every show we see we go to Toys R Us. We go there just to buy more LOTR action figures. Those days were one of the best days of my life. Seeing those isles and isles of toys were one of the best sights I ever seen. Then putting all the LOTR toys in the cart made me really happy. Seeing the cashier put them in the bag made me want to cry in joy, so I can put them in my collection, even my Uncle was excited because he had a collection too. My Uncle is a very special person in my life. He always wanted the best for me, and he still does. We’ve always spent mostly every weekend together. Every time it was Friday I wanted to run out of school to see my Uncle. My Uncle always had a big mind and he also has a big heart. Timothy A

The Greatest Thing

This post was initially posted March 19th, 2007 from Thomas
Hello there,
It has been four months since I was able to smell the flowers in hobbiton, climb and see the mountains, and been able to live a lifetime chance. Many things have changed since New Zealand. I still have been doing good in school. I’m about to go to High school. I just got done with a basketball league and my team came in first. I’m in baesball now, I just tried out for a team. I don’t know what team I am on. I still miss New Zealand and I always think about it and I wish I could go back to it. I look at pictures and I almost start to cry because I miss it so much. Some people still ask me how much fun my trip was. I say it was the greatest trip of my life. It was the greatest trip cause I was with two of the greatest people in the world. I met some of the coolest people I could meet. I think when I get older I will go back and smell the flowers of hobbiton. The people I miss in New Zealand is Vic and Raewyn, they were the greatest tour guides in the world. I miss Heather and Vivian too though. They were two fun people to hang out with. The greatest thing I miss is, my Uncle successfully guiding two young hobbits through Middle - Earth. Namarie.
Your Friend, Thomas
P.S. I love you very much Uncle Max… you are The Greatest Uncle in the world.

Europe

The Twins and I, having started planning our new vacation for this year. They want to go to England and Scotland. While I don't mind that suggesting, I'm think of more. I think it would be nice to travel to a few countries, like France ( at least for 1 day, I loved Paris), and Italy. I saw in a travel magazine, some European tours, where we would travel to 4 or 5 countries. The one that really caught my eye, was London to Rome. I thought this might be nice, because we could have a bit of everything. If I or they, find that they really really like a certain country, then we could always come back to it, another time. Why not get a wonderful taste of Europe. Money is really tight. Overtime is almost non existent. So fingers crossed. Prayers offered. That's my side. The Twins of course have their part. Excellent grades and good behavior..... Max
